The Gibson LG-2 has been a favorite for generations among blues and slide players, singer-songwriters, and anyone who wants a small body without sacrificing tone or playability. This Custom Shop 1942 reissue is built to original specifications and thermally aged to deliver an open, played-in sound right out of the box. From the first note, this instrument feels familiar, as if it has been part of someone's musical story for decades.

The thermally aged Adirondack red spruce top gives this LG-2 a rich, mature sound with harmonic depth rarely found in a new guitar. Despite its compact size, the tone is surprisingly balanced: clear and articulate in the high registers, full and warm in the mid-range. The small body responds quickly and directly to every nuance of attack, making the LG-2 equally suitable for fingerpicking and rhythmic strumming.

The mahogany neck has a historically correct profile with a rosewood fretboard and is joined via a compound dovetail joint for maximum resonance. The AJ 1930s Burst VOS finish is applied in thin nitrocellulose lacquer, hand-finished to a subtle vintage patina. Golden Age tuning machines and a historically correct hardshell case complete this Custom Shop instrument that not only looks like an instrument from another era, but also sounds and feels like one.
