The J-45 that connects two worlds: Red Spruce top on rosewood back for a sound richer and more complex than the classic formula
For decades, the Gibson J-45 has been the benchmark for singer-songwriters and studio musicians seeking a reliable, warm acoustic guitar. This Rosewood Red Spruce version goes a step further than the classic mahogany combination. Adirondack Red Spruce is known for its exceptional stiffness and low density, resulting in more headroom, better dynamic response, and a richer overtone structure. Rosewood back and sides add brilliance, harmonic complexity, and a defined bass that give this J-45 its very own character.
The Tri-Burst finish gives this instrument a warm, layered look that matches the richness of its material combination. The LR Baggs VTC pickup faithfully captures the nuanced sound of the Red Spruce on rosewood for amplified use. The SlimTaper neck feels fast and comfortable in hand, and the 24.75-inch scale length gives the J-45 its familiar playability.
The mahogany neck features a SlimTaper profile with a rosewood fretboard, dot inlays, and 20 frets. Grover Rotomatic tuners and the Traditional Belly Up bridge complete an instrument that combines the familiar J-45 playability with a tone palette that is in a class of its own. Comes with a hardshell case.
