This 1961 Les Paul SG Standard Reissue with Bigsby in Cherry Red VOS pays tribute to one of the most impactful and daring moments in Gibson's history. In 1961, the Les Paul gave way to what would later become an icon: the SG. This reissue perfectly captures the spirit, looks, and raw, open character of that original "Les Paul SG" era.

This guitar is part of the Limited Edition Collection : an exclusive series of instruments resulting from years of Made to Measure requests and the craftsmanship of the Gibson Custom Shop in Nashville. Vintage-correct specifications are subtly combined with refinements that make it particularly appealing to the contemporary player.

The one-piece solid mahogany body features the signature SG design with deep-cut horns and a delightfully light weight. The Cherry Red VOS nitrocellulose lacquer exudes a pure early-sixties vibe and gives the guitar that authentic, slightly aged look. The Bigsby B5 vibrato adds not only expressive possibilities but also a generous dose of vintage flair. Combined with the ABR-1 bridge with nylon saddles, this delivers smooth tuning, stable intonation, and that recognizable classic Gibson tone.

The mahogany neck is bonded to the body with a long tenon , which provides extra sustain and resonance. The Authentic 1961 feels fast and comfortable, just as you would expect from an early SG. The rosewood fingerboard is single-bound and features 22 medium-jumbo frets and aged celluloid trapezoid inlays. With a 12" radius and a 1.687" nut , everything feels instantly familiar. Details like the nylon nut and Kluson® Deluxe tuners complete the picture. A particularly beautiful detail is the headstock, finished with the Gibson logo and pearloid crown inlays , which provides an elegant and authentic look.

Electronically, this SG is equipped with a set of Custombucker Alnico 3 humbuckers , unpotted for maximum dynamics, openness, and vintage bite. The zebra bobbins and True Historic nickel covers enhance the classic look. The traditional 2 volume/2 tone configuration , with CTS potentiometers and a Switchcraft 3-way switch, offers reliable and intuitive control. Black Top Hat knobs with silver inserts and dial pointers, along with black plastic parts and back plates, complete this reissue's visual appearance.
