The Les Paul Standard 50s Double Trouble – pure '50s vibe with a quirky edge
The Gibson Les Paul Standard 50s Double Trouble is based on the legendary Les Paul models of the '50s, but adds a unique twist. This limited edition features all the beloved specifications of the regular 50s Les Paul Standard, but with a distinctly vintage look—and a few exclusive details that really make it stand out.
What makes this Double Trouble special? First and foremost, the pickups: the Burstbucker™ 1 (neck) and Burstbucker™ 2 (bridge) are left uncoated, revealing the dual Classic White bobbins . This open look—combined with the warm tone of the Alnico 2 magnets—creates a vintage feel with just a little more attitude.
The finish is the second distinguishing element. This Les Paul is finished in a vintage version of the classic nitrocellulose gloss lacquer , with a subtly faded look—as if it's been on stage for years. Each finish is applied by hand, so no two guitars are alike.
Otherwise, it's simply the real deal: a solid mahogany body with no weight savings, a beautiful AA-figured maple top, and a mahogany neck with a classic rounded 50s profile . The rosewood fingerboard features 22 medium-jumbo frets and trapezoid inlays.
The hardware is also spot on: an ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic™ bridge, an aluminum stopbar tailpiece, Vintage Deluxe tuners with keystone buttons , and aged gold Top Hat knobs with dials. The electronics are hand-wired with audio taper potentiometers and Orange Drop® capacitors , just as you'd expect from an instrument in this class.
The combination of the exposed Double Classic White pickups, the subtly distressed finish, and the iconic '50s DNA makes this Les Paul a true eye-catcher—and a tonal monster. Note: Production is limited to just 500 units per color worldwide.
The Les Paul Standard 50s Double Trouble – for the player who loves vintage, but also follows their own path.
