Rickenbacker 4030S Short Scale Bass
The Rickenbacker 4030S Short Scale Bass is a compact powerhouse that wraps the legendary Rickenbacker DNA in a new, agile package. Designed in collaboration with Jesse F. Keeler of Death From Above 1979 , this short-scale bass combines the iconic silhouette of the 4000 series with a crisp, fast, and extremely playable character.
The 4030S features a solid maple body with a maple and walnut neck-through core , which creates that signature Rickenbacker resonance: vibrant, bright, and with a beautiful, long sustain. The shorter 30.5" scale length not only makes it more comfortable to play but also adds a touch of snap and directness to the attack.
The 42.9mm nut and rosewood fingerboard with dot inlays offer a familiar playing feel that feels instantly comfortable. The whole thing is finished in a beautiful natural walnut with white plastic details—stylish, timeless, and a delight under the stage lights.
Under the hood, you'll find two Hot Toaster pickups , responsible for that classic Rickenbacker sound: sparklingly clear highs, with a pronounced midrange growl and a defined low end. Whether you prefer a punchy, percussive sound or warm, melodic lines, the 4030S responds instantly to your playing style.
The neck-through construction keeps the notes perfectly focused across the entire fretboard, allowing each note to speak with conviction. The RIC V2 bridge/tailpiece delivers stable intonation and excellent sustain, while the Schaller M4 tuners ensure tuning stays effortlessly—gig after gig. The mono output and simple control layout also make this bass extremely reliable in live situations: no fuss, just pure performance.
The 4030S Short Scale Bass exudes everything that made Rickenbacker great—from its signature punch to its iconic look—but offers it in a playful, shorter format that invites experimentation.
At Dijkmans Guitars we value instruments with personality, and this Rickenbacker is just that: a bass with character, built with craftsmanship, and made for players who want to make their own voice heard.
