Small in size, big in voice: the 1942 Banner LG-2 with Adirondack spruce and hide glue bracing
The Gibson LG-2 is one of the most charming small-body guitars the brand has ever produced. Compact, light, yet with a sound that surprises with its fullness and presence. The Custom Shop 1942 Banner reissue brings that original back in its most authentic form: thermally aged Adirondack red spruce top, hide glue X-bracing made of red spruce, a historically correct 1942 neck and the Banner on the headstock as a hallmark of the period. The VOS nitrocellulose finish in Vintage Sunburst immediately gives the instrument the appearance of having stood the test of time.
Despite its modest size, the sound of the LG-2 is remarkably present. The thermally aged Adirondack top delivers a rich midrange full of character, with a directness and dynamics that larger guitars sometimes lack. The mahogany back and sides add warmth and keep the tone focused and compact. The LG-2 responds quickly to every nuance of attack, making it ideally suited for fingerpicking, blues and singer-songwriter repertoire.
The mahogany neck has a Historic profile with a rosewood fretboard, Mother-of-Pearl dot inlays and 20 Legend Wire frets over a 24.75 inch scale. The rectangle open-slot bridge, Golden Age tuners and bone nut, saddle and bridge pins are historically correct and carefully recreated. Comes with a hardshell case.
