Taylor Ben Harper Gold Label 512e Special Edition
The Taylor Ben Harper Gold Label 512e is a particularly expressive signature acoustic guitar, developed in collaboration with Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Ben Harper. This Special Edition from the Gold Label Collection combines a compact body with a surprisingly mature sound character and a distinct neo-vintage look.
The foundation of this guitar is a solid mahogany body, combined with a torrefied Sitka spruce top. This “aged” top immediately provides a played-in, warm sound with great depth and character. The result is a rich mid-range with clear articulation and powerful projection – remarkable for the compact Grand Concert size.
Thanks to its deeper body and Taylor’s fanned V-Class bracing, this 512e delivers extra volume, sustain, and a solid low end, without losing the balance and control for which the model is known.
In terms of playability, this guitar is excellent: the comfortable Grand Concert body fits nicely in the hand and is ideal for fingerstyle, while the redesigned Action Control Neck ensures a smooth playing feel and easy action adjustment.
Visually, this is also a striking appearance. The shaded edgeburst finish, cream binding, and Honduran rosewood fretboard give the guitar a warm, classic look with a modern twist. The subtle details and finish make it clear that this is an instrument from Taylor’s premium segment.
For stage use, the guitar is equipped with the Claria pickup system, which amplifies the natural sound transparently and dynamically, with simple controls in the soundhole.
In short: a characterful, compact all-rounder with a distinctly warm sound – perfect for players looking for a more vintage-inspired Taylor with modern playability.
