Epiphone Back to the Future ES-345
The Gibson ES-345™ has earned an iconic place in pop culture—largely thanks to that legendary scene in Back to the Future (1985). Michael J. Fox, as Marty McFly, delivers a rousing version of Johnny B. Goode at the “Enchantment Under the Sea” ball. And even though the ES-345 wasn’t released until 1959, it fit the 1955 setting remarkably well. That anachronistic detail added even more magic to the film—and cemented the ES-345’s status as a rock ‘n’ roll icon.
With the Epiphone Back to the Future ES-345, you can now own a piece of music history. This guitar is based on the model played by Marty McFly in the film and pays tribute to this cultural icon.
In terms of construction, nothing has been left to chance: a five-ply laminated maple semi-hollow body with a solid maple center block for extra sustain and reduced feedback. The body has four-ply binding on the top and single-ply binding on the back. The mahogany neck with a comfortable Rounded C profile is finished with a bound rosewood fingerboard, 22 medium-jumbo frets, and classic split parallelogram inlays.
The 60s Kalamazoo headstock features a Graph Tech® nut and Epiphone Deluxe tuners with cream keystone buttons. A nice detail: the Epiphone logo and Gibson Crown are inlaid in mother-of-pearl, and on the back, you'll even find a Hill Valley Music Store sticker – a direct nod to the film.
The hardware is all gold, including an Epiphone LockTone™ Tune-O-Matic™ bridge and a Bigsby® B70 vibrato. Just like in the movie, the original Stop Bar studs are present. The sound is provided by two Epiphone Alnico Classic PRO™ pickups, each with its own volume and tone controls. Thanks to the mono Varitone, you can also get even more tonal variety from this guitar.
The guitar comes in a vintage-style hardshell case with Marvin Berry and the Starlighters graphics. And take note: the Epiphone Back to the Future ES-345 is limited to just 1,985 pieces worldwide. They're sure to sell out fast—so unless you have a DeLorean with a flux capacitor, it's wise to get one now.
