The Dove returns in its original form: flamed maple, mother of pearl and a voice that fills the room
The Gibson Dove was born in the turbulent 1960s and quickly captured the melody of many timeless folk songs. Recognizable by its graceful mother-of-pearl inlays on the pickguard and bridge, the Vintage Cherry Sunburst finish and the characteristic dove motif, the Dove is one of the most visually impressive acoustic guitars Gibson has ever made. This Original edition is a meticulous reproduction of the iconic original, complete with the materials and details that made the Dove so beloved in the 1960s.
The Sitka Spruce top on flamed maple back and sides delivers the characteristic Dove sound: balanced, warm and with a strong forward projection that sends chords and melodies powerfully into the room. The traditional hand-scalloped Advanced X-brace keeps the top free and responsive. The LR Baggs VTC pickup faithfully captures the acoustic voice of the Dove for use on stage or in the studio, with volume and tone controls discreetly hidden in the soundhole.
The mahogany neck has a Rounded profile with a rosewood fretboard, Mother-of-Pearl single parallelogram inlays and 20 frets over a 25.5-inch scale. The nut and saddle are bone, Grover Keystone tuners provide tuning. The Traditional Belly Up bridge with Tusq bridge pins and the nitrocellulose Vintage Cherry Sunburst finish complete an instrument that sounds as impressive as it looks. Supplied with Gibson hardshell case.
