The Roland RE-201 Space Echo Delay and the Boss CE-1 Chorus are two of the most legendary effects of all time. You'll hear them on countless albums and productions; from Midnight Oil to John Frusciante and from Pink Floyd to Brian Setzer. Besides their beautiful delay and chorus tones, the RE-201 and CE-1 have been known for decades for their built-in preamp circuits. The Boss BP-1W combines both circuits into one compact pedal, along with a third, extra clean mode for a straightforward volume boost. The RE mode has a somewhat fuller character with a nice low-mid boost and rounded trebles. The CE mode is grittier and retains more of the low end. Don't be afraid to crank up the gain control; the CE mode, in particular, verges on a fat fuzz at high settings. The Boss BP-1W is fully analog and retains all the beauty of the original preamps!
