The Axess Cabronita Bass that shows what happens when a luthier writes his own rules
This T-style Cabronita Bass was assembled and perfectly adjusted by Bob from Axess Guitars & Basses, a luthier who nowadays hardly builds complete instruments anymore. The Vintage Blonde finish with a subtle light aged treatment gives the bass a lightly played-in look that matches the character of the instrument. You don't often come across builds like this.
The sound of this bass is surprisingly versatile. The two Rickenbacker Toaster pickups deliver a tone that varies from warm and round to bright and snappy, depending on how you set the controls. The ash body contributes to a clear, punchy sound with plenty of attack and definition, while the maple neck and fretboard keep the tone tight and focused. This is a bass that feels at home in funk, rock, indie, and everything in between.
The neck has a C-profile with a 34" scale length and 20 frets, providing a familiar, comfortable playing experience. The electronics consist of two dual concentric volume/tone controls, one per pickup, allowing you to quickly and precisely adjust volume and tone for each pickup with a single knob. The Gotoh Lollipop FB30LP tuners ensure stable tuning and perfectly match the vintage aesthetic. Black dot inlays on the maple fretboard complete the sleek, no-nonsense look. The weight of 4.57 kg is well-balanced for an ash body.
A hand-built Axess Cabronita Bass with Rickenbacker Toaster pickups in this condition is a rare opportunity for the bassist looking for something unique.
