Epiphone Bonehead Riviera – A Britpop Legend Revived
Few guitarists embody Epiphone's "For Every Stage" motto as strongly as Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs . From the first Oasis shows in small clubs like The Water Rats in London to the iconic Knebworth gigs, Bonehead was always there with his trusty Epiphone Riviera . His powerful, rhythmic playing was an essential part of the recognizable wall of sound that made Oasis great in the early '90s.
The guitar most associated with this period? His 1982 Epiphone Riviera , played during the recordings of Definitely Maybe , (What's the Story), Morning Glory , and of course, during the legendary Knebworth shows in 1996.
Good news: This iconic guitar is now available as a high-quality signature reissue – the Epiphone Bonehead Riviera .
This Riviera features a five-ply laminated maple body with a solid maple center block – meaning more sustain and less feedback at high volumes. The body is finished with subtle cream binding on the front and back.
The neck is a three-piece maple construction with the familiar SlimTaper™ C-profile , a comfortable volute, and a bound rosewood fingerboard with 22 medium jumbo frets. The pearloid parallelogram inlays give the fingerboard a classic look.
The iconic Epiphone Sloped Dovewing headstock features premium die-cast tuners with metal oval buttons, a GraphTech® nut , and a beautiful truss rod cover with the E logo. A nice detail: a reproduction of Bonehead's signature in gold is emblazoned on the back of the headstock.
The pickups? A set of Epiphone Alnico Classic PRO™ humbuckers , controlled by CTS® potentiometers with individual volume and tone controls. The black witch hat knobs with silver inserts and dial pointers let you see your tone at a glance.
Of course, this guitar comes in a matching hardshell case – whether you're on your way to the rehearsal space or the main stage of your tour.
The Epiphone Bonehead Riviera isn't just a signature model: it's a tribute to an era, a sound, and a style that has influenced generations. And above all, it's a serious guitar, built to be played—on any stage.
