Vintage Martin No Truss-Rod!

A vintage 1978 Martin D-28 that wears its age with style

A vintage Martin D-28 is not a guitar you come across every day. This 1979 model was built during the period when Martin was still heavily relying on the materials and traditional craftsmanship that made the brand great. Almost fifty years later, this guitar sounds as only a played-in vintage dreadnought can: mature, full, and with a character that cannot be replicated.

The sound of the D-28 is legendary for good reason. The Sitka spruce top has had decades to open up, resulting in a warm, complex tone with a wide dynamic range. The Indian rosewood back and sides add deep low-mids and clear overtones that are excellent for both fingerpicking and robust flatpicking. This is the sound you know from countless classic recordings.

The guitar is fully original, equipped with Grover tuners, a rosewood bridge and fretboard, and Martin's reliable X-brace construction. It also includes an LR Baggs VTC pickup, so you can amplify its distinctive sound. The dovetail neck joint is as it should be, and the low oval neck shape plays comfortably and familiarly. The hardshell case is included.

This instrument is in good condition for its age. There are visible signs of play, as one would expect from a guitar that has been actively used, but there are no significant damages or repairs. Before shipping or collection, the instrument will be inspected and, if necessary, played in by our technician.

A piece of guitar history that is ready for its next player.
