The Laney LA-STUDIO brings Supergroup tube tone to your direct recordings
A classic rock amp as the foundation for a modern recording setup: the Laney LA-STUDIO combines the character of the 1967 Supergroup design with built-in Two Notes Torpedo technology. This compact tube amp head delivers 3 watts and is aimed at guitarists who want to capture their sound in the studio. Thanks to the speaker simulation, you can record directly without placing a speaker cabinet in front of a microphone. This offers a different workflow compared to a traditional head-and-cabinet setup, while a real tube amp remains the starting point. Ideal when you want to use your favorite rock tone to work out new parts.
The tonal direction is that of the Supergroup: solid classic rock sounds with a pronounced amp character. The association with Tony Iommi's early sound provides a recognizable musical starting point, but the LA-STUDIO is primarily designed to let you put your own spin on it. Bass, Middle, Treble, and Presence allow you to fine-tune the balance and clarity to your guitar and parts. Gain determines how you drive the amp. The Brake mode reduces the power to 0.1 watts for playing at a lower level with a speaker cabinet. This does not mean that the amp automatically becomes inaudible.
The LA-STUDIO features a balanced XLR DI output with Two Notes emulation and a ground-lift switch. Via the virtual cabinet selection, you can change the simulated speaker cabinet for your direct sound. It also features a 3.5mm headphone output and MIDI out/thru. For use with a real speaker cabinet, there are 8- and 16-ohm outputs; always match the connected cabinet to the correct output. The controls also include power and Brake switches. With dimensions of 229 x 520 x 200 mm and a weight of 7.8 kg, this amp head remains compact for a studio setup.
Do you want to capture classic Laney rock tones without having to find a microphone position every time? The LA-STUDIO combines tube amplification and cabinet emulation, so you can choose how to record your next guitar part.
