The Laney LFR-212 lets the sound of your digital guitar setup speak for itself
You've found your favorite amps, cabinets, and effects in your modeler, but how do you hear those sounds in the rehearsal room? The Laney LFR-212 Powered Guitar Cab is an active FRFR speaker cabinet designed for that purpose. FRFR stands for Full Range, Flat Response: a wide frequency range with as neutral a reproduction as possible. The idea is that the sound comes from your digital setup, rather than from the pronounced coloration of a traditional guitar speaker. This gives your carefully crafted presets their own place on stage.
That makes this Laney interesting if you like switching between different amp characters. A bright clean sound, a solid rock sound, or a spacious combination of delay and reverb: you want to keep hearing the differences you've set up in your modeler. The combination of two 12-inch drivers and a separate compression driver is intended to reproduce that wide soundstage. Your digital amp and cabinet simulations thus remain the starting point. Even if you're just starting out with modeling, the principle is straightforward: your modeler shapes the sound, the LFR-212 makes it audible.
The speaker cabinet has a rated power of 800 watts and contains two custom 12-inch drivers plus a 1-inch La Voce compression driver. The speakers are arranged in a staggered layout in a slanted cabinet. Via XLR/jack combo inputs, you connect a suitable signal source. Because this is an active cabinet, the amplification is already built-in and you don't need a separate power amp for that. The switchable lighting on the front also gives your setup a recognizable stage detail.
Don't want to experience your digital guitar setup only through headphones? With the Laney LFR-212, you give your presets the space to sound out loud.
